not too shabby.

Starts a bit abruptly, doesn't it? But this beat is pretty cool... the parts where it skips are kind of cool (I assume those're supposed to be in there, right?) but sort of throw off the beat for a moment in a few places... thirty seconds in to it is a good example. I like the part at 1:50, though.

Neat stuff - perfect music for a flash movie.

Thank you very much for listening.

Yeah thanks. It's a work in progress.

I gotta work on that start.

I'll work on that and try to make it better.

Dark world of fruity loops.

Hmmm... I don't know. This isn't very well put together... I mean, all the synths and stuff sound cool, but they don't sound cool together.

The plucked plugin sounds kind of out of place with all the other sounds being strictly synth, don't you think? You may want to consider changing that, maybe even to one of the DX10 presets? That could be cool...

The drums in the background are pretty cool, but you can't really hear them, and they're repetitive. Maybe that's what you were going for, but I think it could use a little more work.

Basicly, this sounds amature-ish. Which makes sense - it seems like you're new to FL. So keep working at it - the more you use the program the better you'll get. For now, this only gets a five overall.

I love fruity loops. Everyone should.

I'm a Fruity Loops guy myself so this should be interesting...

Okay, that sounds like the 'plucked' vst, oh, and simsynth...

Actually, this song reminds me a lot of my earlier stuff when I was just messing around, trying to figure out how everything worked.

Nice use of the bass there, I like how it's understated, but it works.

The melody... is kind of hard to follow, I guess... some of it sounds really kind of random, some of it's definatly dischordant, and the rest is pretty respectable.

The drums are a bit basic, but that's not really a bad thing... I like the cool little rolls that you've got starting around :58, by the way.

So overall... this gets a six. Not because it's bad, or anything, but because I'll bet after messing around for another week you could have something better. And the same goes for the week after that, etc. Keep it up - you've definatly got potential.

r0cked!

Oh, the drums were cool but then the guitar cut it out. Arg, distortion. Okay. Gotta' get used to this.

Huh, this isn't really all that long, is it? It does, however, do some interesting stuff in what little time it has.

The drums, while not anything particularly innovative, are pulled off pretty well... no complaints there.

The guitar is... well, distorted, yeah. Pretty much. It's really to the point where the melody is getting muddy, and that sort of takes away from the fact that it's pretty original. It's definatly moving - that ax is goin' places, no doubt about that.

Really, what this sounds like to me is a couple of guys jammin' together. Now what you need to do is clean it up a bit, expand on the musical ideas you've already got, and bring it out to a full-fledged song. It's obvious you've got the talent for it, and this song gets a seven.

*sigh* not that I was expecting much...

Okay, you took an already-existing song and sped it up. I'm not impressed. In fact, just the opposite. I'm negative-impressed. The total lack of impression I'm getting from this song is collapsing on itself, and starting to suck matter towards it.

You get a 1, because the only possible use this could have is for people who have never used a computer before.

MIDI rock!

Okay, I'll admit it - I was prepared to hate this from the first mock-guitar midi'd note. However, on further listening... this isn't really too bad.

Everything is sort of what I'd expect from a rock song... the drums, the melodies... oh, and a cool solo at :23, that's neat...

So, this is kind of short (less than a minute)... you could take what you've got and expand it out to a couple minutes easily... there's some pretty neat themes that would benefit from some further exploration.

The ending feels a little... abrupt, I guess, but it doesn't really seriously detract from the song. This is cooler than I expected, and impressive considering it's using MIDI. So, I'm gonna' go with a seven.

SpasmGuitar responds:

Thank you for the helpful review. The song is only around a minute long because this demo converter I have to convert .midis into .mp3s will only let me convert a file it it's a minute or less. There's actually another guitar solo, different chords progressions, and another riff that follow what you heard. Yeah the ending sort of sucked, when I submitted this I wasn't done with the song, so I just did that to keep it under a minute. I've been wanting to record songs like this, but haven't found any decent recording equipment yet. Thanks, Hans.

I could do this in about fifteen minutes...

Um, okay, this sounds like you took a midi and changed the instruments. Speaking of which, you didn't even really choose good ones - the 'steel drum' is crap down in the lower register, muddies up the rest of everything. The drum beat consists of a snare playing the same loop over and over.

And, to add insult to injury, the song just ends. Abruptly. There isn't even a lame fade effect.

In other words... one'd.

Hey - I'm just this guy, you know?
